TEEN POLICE ACADEMY

The 2023 Teen Academy Summer Camp is a week-long program that immerses participants in the world of law enforcement.  The material covered is the same as that presented to local high schools, with a little extra, including our firearms training simulator and Emergency Vehicle Operation Course, where students will participate as passengers in a training pursuit.  The camp is open to teens who are, or will be, between the ages of 14-18 at the start of the camp.  Note: There are no exceptions to the age requirement.

The Summer Camp is from June 26th to June 30th 9am-12pm and will be held at the Richard and Meg Weekley Community Center located at 8440 Greenhouse Rd. in Cypress, 77433.

Each participant, regardless of age, must have a signed waiver from a parent or legal guardian, and contact information for that parent or legal guardian must be included in the online registration.

CAMP SCHEDULE:

June 27th, Tuesday:  Criminal Investigations / Crime Scene / Drone Demo / K-9 Demo
June 28th, Wednesday:  Traffic Enforcement / High Risk Stops / DWI & DUI

  • Each participant is responsible for maintaining a high level of safety, maturity, and respect for others.
  • Anyone who witnesses an unsafe or potentially unsafe situation should call attention to it immediately.
  • Under no circumstances will personal weapons of any type be allowed, including pocket knives.
  • Adherence to instructions from academy personnel is mandatory.
  • Dress Code:  Each participant is required to wear long pants (jeans are fine), closed toe shoes (tennis shoes are fine), and approprate shirts (T-shirts are fine as long as they do not display any inappropriate images or messages).  No sandals, sleevless shirts, jeans with holes, shorts, or skirts.  Attire outside of requirements will prohibit participation in the academy.
  • Due to demand and limited seating, it is required that participants attend each of the 5 days.
  • Parents providing transportation for their teen to the academy need to make every effort to be on time for drop off and pick-up.
  • Academy waivers are required to be filled out and signed by a parent or legal guardian at or before the first day of camp.
  • Failure to maintain these guidelines could result in the immediate dismal of a participant from the program.

NOTICE:

While the material presented in this course has been edited for appropriateness, it deals with realistic and at times intense subject matter. Some blocks of instruction will include hands-on applications conducted in a safe training environment.  No one attending the academy is under any obligation to participate in anything that they do not feel comfortable with.
