Environmental Crimes

The Harris County Precinct 5 Environmental Crimes Unit is a county-wide investigative unit that collaborates with other agencies within the Houston Galveston region. Their primary goal is to enforce all state and federal environmental laws, as well as improving the environment through remediation.

Illegal disposal of solid waste has become a major issue within our neighborhoods, both in the city of Houston and in the unincorporated areas of Harris County. We use the most updated techniques to investigate and pursue violators of these environmental crimes.

Our investigators have received extensive training regarding environmental crimes, both on the federal and state level.  Fines for environmental crimes depend on the amount of litter, solid waste or hazardous material that is dumped. The punishment can range from a Class C citation all the way up to Felony charges.
